Boehringer Ingelheim’s Oncology Portfolio Shows Strong Promise Across Multiple Cancers at ASCO 2026

Written by | 21 May 2026 | Conference Highlights

At the 2026 ASCO Annual Meeting, Boehringer Ingelheim presented new data from across its oncology clinical development program, including patient-reported outcomes (PROs) for HERNEXEOS® (zongertinib tablets) in HER2 (ERBB2)-mutant advanced NSCLC, early results in other HER2-driven cancers, and updated efficacy data for obrixtamig in extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC) and extrapulmonary neuroendocrine carcinoma (epNEC).

HERNEXEOS® (Zongertinib) — PROs in HER2-Mutant NSCLC

  • N=71 from Phase Ib Beamion LUNG-1. Improvements in physical functioning and NSCLC-related symptoms from baseline, sustained over time (EORTC QLQ-C30 and NSCLC-SAQ).
  • Low overall side effect burden; patient-reported AEs consistent with published safety data.

HERNEXEOS® in Other HER2-Driven Cancers

  • mCRC (N=19 pooled): Confirmed ORR 42%, disease control rate 95%. No grade 4/5 AEs.
  • HER2-positive mGEAC (N=16): HERNEXEOS + T-DXd yielded 10 confirmed responses (1 CR, 9 PR). No grade 4/5 AEs.
  • HER2-positive mBC: Cohort A (T-DM1): 3 PR, 9 SD. Cohort B (T-DXd): 4 PR, 11 SD. No new safety signals.

Obrixtamig (DLL3/CD3 T-cell Engager) — ES-SCLC

  • Phase I DAREON®-8 (N=44): Confirmed ORR 73% (7% CR, 66% PR); disease control rate 91%.
  • Median DoR and PFS not yet reached; 6- and 9-month PFS rates 78% and 62% respectively.
  • CRS most common obrixtamig-related AE (57%). Discontinuations infrequent (n=1).
